IMD Issues Orange Alert Due To Falling Temperature In Delhi

As winter morning dawns in Delhi, people wake up to the sight of cold and fog. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature has fallen to 4.8 degrees Celsius, which is colder than normal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'Orange Alert' of dense fog in parts of Delhi today. This means there is a severe fog warning.

There are problems in transportation due to fog. Twenty-four trains coming to New Delhi were delayed due to low visibility due to fog. This is making it difficult for people to move around in the city.

Today the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be around 19 degrees Celsius, due to which there will be some warmth amidst the cold. According to the IMD, January saw five cold days and five cold wave days, the highest in the last 13 years.

The air quality in Delhi is also not very good. The air quality index (AQI) stands at 355, which is considered very poor. This means that the air is not healthy to breathe. The humidity is 97 percent, which has increased the coolness and moisture in the atmosphere.

In short, winter days in Delhi are cold and foggy. IMD has issued a warning and transportation is being affected. Despite the cold, the air quality is also not good. It is important for people to remain alert and prepared for wintry conditions.
